Enchanted Forest Set to go Head to Head for THREE of Scotland’s Top Event Gongs Tonight
The Enchanted Forest, Scotland’s premier sound and light show, is gearing up to go head to head with rivals for no less than three titles at this year’s prestigious Scottish Event Awards, which will be held in Glasgow tonight.
The Enchanted Forest, which is organised by Perthshire Big Tree Country, was founded in 2002 with just 3000 visitors attending in its first year. In 2008, that figure had risen to almost 20,000 visitors, demonstrating a 17% rise in visitor numbers on the previous year.
This evening the event will be competing for the titles of Scotland’s Best Cultural Event, Best Large Event and Best Event Marketing Strategy.
Stephen Bolland, chairman of The Enchanted Forest said, “We’re very excited about tonight and hope we can bring these trophies back to Perth. Even being shortlisted is a real reflection of the quality of the event and its popularity with the Scottish public.”
This year Faskally Wood, which is managed by Forestry Commission Scotland, is set to be transformed into a journey through Scotland’s mystical past, bringing visitors face to face with well known characters such as Robert the Bruce and Tam O’ Shanter, and perhaps lesser known characters such as the Shelly Man and the Selkie.
Tickets for the 2009 Enchanted Forest event have already gone on sale and with some of the events already sold out, ticket sales look to be beating the credit crunch. The event takes place at Faskally Wood, near Pitlochry, from Friday 16th October – Sunday 1st November.
