2009 Perthshire Big Tree Country Awards Shortlist Announced
Perth & Kinross Countryside Trust has announced the shortlist of organisations and schools from throughout the area who are each in with a chance of receiving a coveted Perthshire Big Tree Country Award.
Organisations from around Perth & Kinross, including businesses, schools and community groups, are each vying for one of the three accolades which will be given out at an awards ceremony to be held at The Gleneagles Hotel on Sunday 27th September. The awards, now in their third year, have also seen a rise in entries for the awards.
Bob Ellis, chairman of Perth & Kinross Countryside Trust which oversees Perthshire Big Tree Country, said “This year we have been very impressed with the quality and range of entrants in each category. The shortlisted candidates reflect the range of excellent work and efforts being put into initiatives aimed at families and children in this area by businesses, communities and schools.”
The winners will be revealed at a unique afternoon awards ceremony held at The Gleneagles Hotel, presented by former ITN Newscaster, Fiona Armstrong.
The organisations shortlisted for this year’s awards are:
Families & Children in Business Award: Galvelmore House; Strathbraan Tourist Group, Taymouth Courtyard Shop; and Crieff Hydro Hotel
Families & Children in the Community Award: Crieff & Strathearn Drovers’ Tryst; Pitlochry in Bloom; Grandtully Parent Council; Goodlyburn Primary School; Fairfield Neighbourhood Centre; and Glenfarg & Duncrieve in Bloom.
Families & Children in Education Award: Nae Limits; Action for Children; Fairfield Neighbourhood Centre; Inchture Primary School; Do It Outdoors
