St John’s Shopping Centre Shortlisted for Community Award
St John’s Shopping Centre, Perth, has been shortlisted for the Business in the Community Award for the second year running in the 2009 Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Business Star Awards.
The award, which recognises businesses that are proactive in their community engagement and involvement, will be announced at a glittering black tie event to be held at Perth Concert Hall on Thursday 26th November.
St John’s Shopping Centre has been credited for their proactive approach to charitable fundraising in order to enhance and improve the city centre environment for visitors to the shopping centre. This year, their fundraising efforts generated national publicity for both the shopping centre and Perth City when it was featured as part of BBC1’s Comic Relief programme broadcast on Red Nose Day 2009.
Siobhan McConnell, St John’s Shopping Centre manager commented, “We are absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for this award for a second year running. While we may have been pipped to the post last year, we firmly believe in working with the local community and generously give our time, space and other resources to ensure we continue to add value to the Perth city centre. To be shortlisted for a Business in the Community Award a second time is testimony to the team’s effort to make a difference.”
